Blog, News & Updates

Getting married really is a very big deal indeed. If you are lucky enough to have children then it is probably the next biggest day you will ever experience. There is so much to sort out from the the venue, the food, the dress, the cake to entertainment, favours and the list goes on and on and on.
It really does take a huge amount of organisation and the amount of stress and anxiety it causes can be enormous. Some people choose to work with a wedding planner as it really can help reduce the amount of time spent trolling the internet for reputable suppliers, and a decent wedding planner will already have a list of suppliers that they have worked with and trust which will help alleviate a lot of pressure, after all, getting married is supposed to be joyous.

For those of you who may not have the budget to pay someone else to sort your wedding, or who adopts a "hands on" approach then we can offer you some very reliable suppliers who are well established and have a very good name within the wedding fraternity.
Firstly there is Rise Hall . For those of you who can remember Rise Hall was purchased by Graham Swift and Sarah Beeney and they made a channel 4 documentary in the restoration. The house has been lovingly restored to its former glory, set in beautiful surroundings with elegant decor makes Rise Hall a very good option for your wedding.
As beautiful as Rise Hall is, it is the people who work there who really make it what it is. Helen Davies is the Curator at Rise Hall was approached by Graham and Sarah to help run it as Helen already had earned a very good reputation as a wedding and events planner. Through Helen's hard work and determination she has built a team off staff who offer exceptional service who will make sure that should you choose Rise Hall then it really will be worth every last penny.

Along with Rise Hall there is Denton Hall. Situated on the outskirts of Ilkley Denton Hall sits on the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Built in the 1770's this Stately Home is currently owned by N G Bailey, which are still a family owned business. From Monday to Thursday the Hall is used as a HQ for the business as well as a training centre. However, once Friday arrives the Hall is used as a perfect wedding destination. The interior has been furnished with no expense spared and the artwork on display is exceptional. Denton Hall like to keep their catering local as well and are very fortunate to have Box Tree Events on their door step, so if you would like to take advantage of some Michelin starred cooking then look no further.
If you would like more information then you can contact Brooke Adams who is the Wedding Coordinator at Denton Hall. Once again, having worked with Brooke previously we know she will go out of her way to ensure you and your guests have a day and night to remember.

OK, so there are a couple of very reputable venues which are well worth a visit, but what about everything else required for your special day?
Well rather than list everything here the best advice I could offer would be to get in touch with The Wedding Affair.
The Wedding Affair have now become a leader in Luxury Wedding Fairs throughout the north of England, and have a reputation for the "go to" events for quality suppliers. They offer a series of events throughout the year at 4 and 5 star venues, Stately Homes and Cathedrals.
You can rest assured that at every event they organise there will be a selection of high quality, professional suppliers covering every aspect of your wedding.
They also run a weekly blog every Wednesday at 9pm on twitter which is again a great opportunity to meet new suppliers and ask them questions regarding your special day.
For more information then you can speak with Lisa Hogg who will be more than happy to help with your enquiries.

Hopefully this can help make your life a little less stressful during organising your special day, and whoever you do decide to use have a fantastic day and all the very best for your future.

So, you have booked the venue and now need to decide on what kind of entertainment for you and your guests. The options are endless - from a string quartet, swing band, solo artist or a live band. What a lot of people do not factor into weddings is that the three things that most people remember from weddings are the dress, the cake and the entertainment. The entertainment is there to provide a fitting finale to a wonderful day and doing a little bit of research will make sure that whoever you decide on booking will make sure that they provide the best possible entertainment.
Do not assume that cheapest is best, there are a lot of solo artists and bands out there who profess to be professional, and unfortunately they are nothing more that glorified karaoke singers or pub bands. If you are booking professional entertainment you are booking someone who does this for a living and not for some extra beer money. When you buy your wedding dress the chances are you have bought it from a reputable wedding dress tailor, and the same should be said for your entertainment.
If you get the opportunity then try and get to see the artist live before you book as anyone can be made to sound good in a studio, if they are professional then then will sound as good, if not better in a live environment.
Always make sure that the price quoted is the total price and that there are no unforseen costs that you find out about. For example there may be an additional charge for music being played after midnight.
PAT testing and PLI is pretty much the norm these days and again any reputable entertainer will have both. Most venues will request these.
So there are a few pointers to consider and hopefully will help you choose the best entertainment for your special day.
